Learning Centers at Dajonna’s Family Childcare
Literacy & Library Center
A cozy space filled with books, story props, and writing tools. Children build early literacy skills, expand vocabulary, and develop a love for reading through storytelling, independent reading, and group read-alouds
Math & Manipulatives Center
Hands-on materials like blocks, puzzles, counting bears, and pattern games. Children practice problem-solving, number sense, shapes, and patterns while strengthening fine motor skills and critical thinking.
Art & Creativity Center
Open-ended art supplies such as crayons, paint, playdough, and collage materials. Children express themselves creatively, improve motor coordination, and learn to plan, create, and take pride in their work.
Block & Building Center
A space with wooden blocks, Legos, and construction toys. Children explore balance, design, and teamwork while strengthening math concepts, spatial awareness, and cooperation.
Dramatic Play/Home Living Center
A pretend kitchen, dress-up clothes, dolls, and role-play props. Children practice real-world skills, problem-solving, and social-emotional development while using imagination and cooperation in play.
Science & Discovery Center
Materials like magnifying glasses, plants, sensory bins, and nature items. Children explore cause and effect, observation, and experimentation while developing curiosity and early STEM skills.
Music & Movement Center
Instruments, scarves, rhythm sticks, and space for dancing. Children explore rhythm, sound, and movement while building coordination, self-expression, and cultural appreciation.
Quiet & Calming Corner
A peaceful area with soft seating, books, and stress-relief tools. Children learn self-regulation, practice calming strategies, and develop emotional awareness.
Technology & Learning Station
Tablets or computers with age-appropriate learning games. Children practice problem-solving, letter recognition, and math readiness while learning responsible technology use
